Stunning views of the sea loch and a large private garden make this four bedroomed property an ideal location for both relaxing and active land or water-based holidays. Built in 1999 and constantly upgraded, the open plan living room, dining room and well equipped kitchen provide a convivial setting, whether breakfasting outside on the south-facing terrace or snuggling up to the open fire. It’s a really sociable space, ideal for larger families or groups of friends, with large windows facing south over Loch Craignish.
The four bedrooms offer flexible arrangements to suit larger families and the additional gallery upstairs gives another space to relax with a great view. Fully equipped both for cooking and entertaining, there are two flatscreen TVs, one internet-enabled, a DVD player, a good stereo system (with turntable), free Wi-Fi, a selection of books, CDs, DVDs, board games and also a Blütner piano. Outside the views over the loch are outstanding and unspoilt. With a large terrace with picnic benches, a barbecue and sports equipment. A short walk to the village, it has the complete seclusion of the fenced 5-acre grounds. The gardens are rough Highland lawns with woods which, in early summer look fantastic.
The shores of Loch Craignish are only a short stroll from Drumalban, with peaceful sheltered waters of the lagoon. In the village, is the Galley of Lorne hotel which houses the village pub and restaurant, there is also an excellent café opposite, a well-stocked village shop and marina chandlery. There is also riding, sailing, canoeing, fresh water and sea fishing as well as walks and boat excursions.
Within 7 miles of Ardfern is the renowned Kilmartin Glen and its pre-historic sites, including castles, standing stones, burial cairns, hill forts and Kilmartin Museum. Next door is the Moine Mhor, a lowland raised bog of international importance, with the ancient hill fort of Dunadd just a short distance further towards Lochgilphead. Wildlife includes birds of prey, beavers, red squirrels, deer, seals, otters and pine martens. Fresh seafood abounds in the many eating places scattered around. A 16-mile drive takes you to Lochgilphead, which has specialist shops and restaurants, a swimming pool, golf course and sports centre. Offering a great day out are the towns of Oban, the Gateway to the Isles to the north, Inveraray, the capital of Argyll to the east and Campbeltown to the far south on the Kintyre Peninsula.
