CAMP COVESIDE: Four seasons of fun on Moosehead Lake! | House in Beaver Cove

3 Bedroom House in Beaver Cove
Camp Coveside is located in Beaver Cove only 5 miles to downtown Greenville. Steps away from a members only beach on Moosehead Lake. Directly across from Beaver Cove Marina.
The house is designed for family-style fun and comfort. The main floor is large, open, and inviting- a great space for family-style meals, pool matches on the custom table, cook outs on the deck, and game nights.
The main bedroom is enormous. It features a full en suite bath and your own lounge area. For families with young children, or for larger family groups, it easily converts to added sleeping space.
We ask that guests limit use of the washer/dryer to 2 loads per stay to conserve water and electricity. There is a Laundry in Greenville for larger needs.
Downstairs are the Game Room, additional bedrooms, and full bath.
The very private backyard features a Lily Pond with fire pit and screened picnic table.
We offer access to 4-seasons of fun!
(As pictured in the photos, there are 2 buildings on the property. You will have exclusive use of Camp Coveside, with the exception of a storage room and the garage. The other building on the property, Studio Coveside, is a 3-bay owner’s garage with small studio above. This studio is not used for seasonal or guest rental.). There is a ring security camera in use. It is at the outside entrance to the house and overlooks the driveway. It is recording during your stay. It will be viewed at check in to monitor occupancy and pet compliance. Alerts will be deactivated for your stay and footage will only be viewed if there are issues from our cleaner or our neighbors.
Community Amenities: Camp Coveside is part of Beaver Cove Association, a small lakeside neighborhood, which provides:
- private community beach with protected swimming area, raft, firepit, picnic shelter, and playground
- 2 mile shore trail walking loop
- community dock and boat launch
- snowmobile access to Moosehead Lake and International Trail System
Recreational Activities
BOATING
Directly across from Beaver Cove Marina, the only full service marina on the Lily Bay side of the lake. Boat launch (fee), weekly slips based on availability. Ethanol free gas dock. Mechanic on duty.
The lake is also great for canoe, kayak, sail, and paddleboard. Access for smaller craft via the Community Beach or BCA ramp. Nearby Prong Pond is very sheltered- a great spot for paddling and fishing if the big lake is too windy.
FISHING
- Bring your boat to troll for the larger fish in Moosehead Lake- "brookies" (brook trout), land-locked salmon, and togue (lake trout). Smallmouth bass in the dozens of nearby lakes and ponds.
- Fly Fishing- great fly fishing in Moosehead Lake, it's inlets/outlets, and nearby smaller lakes and ponds
- Ice Fishing- great ice fishing right in Beaver Cove
If you are already an experienced fisherman we have easy access to every destination. For the new or inexperienced, there are many local professional guides waiting to show you the ropes (or the lines...).
HIKING
- Great hiking right from your front door, or a short drive away. The BCA shore loop is a great way to start any day any time of year. More challenging hikes are available throughout the area (see All Trails or other guides)- Borestone Mountain, Gulf Hagas, Big Moose Mountain summit, and our personal favorite- the Mount Kineo Fire Tower.
We are also close to the Appalachian Trail for access to section hiking.
SKIING
- Limited alpine skiing is still available at Big Squaw Mountain. They also have a 3 mile nordic loop for cross country skiing and snow shoeing. The mountain is currently under development and we expect skiing opportunities to grow in the coming years.
HUNTING
- Moose, deer, fowl, bear.... you name it!
SIGHT-SEEING
- The Moosehead Lake region is a great starting point for northern touring. The Golden Road and the Katahdin Ironworks (K-I) Road offer access to beautiful, remote wilderness. Lily Bay State Park is right next door. Baxter State Park and Mt. Katahdin are nearby. Fall foliage is spectacular.
SEA PLANE TOURS
- Moosehead Lake is a destination for sea plane pilots. Every September Greenville hosts The International Sea Plane Fly-In. The waterfront buzzes (literally!) with planes, vendors, craft tents, food trucks, and more. Several pilots offer flights excursions over the lake and surrounding mountains.
SNOWMOBILING/ATV
- Direct trail access from the house. Head West across the lake to Rockwood, Mount Kineo and on to Pittston Farm. Or head North and East to connect with the International Trail System (ITS 85/86). Visit nearby Kokadjo, Number 4 Mountain, and the B52 Crash Site Memorial. Or head all the way to Millinocket, Fort Kent, and Canada! We have room for your sleds, or rentals are available in nearby Greenville.
Rentals and guided tours available for snowmobile and ATV at Northwoods Outfitters.
MOOSE
- Maine is all about moose for many visitors. Local sightings are common, so keep your eyes open! Dusk drives to Kokadjo (“Population: Not Many”) or along the Golden Road are a good bet. Several area guide services offer Moose Safaris.
WHITE WATER RAFTING
- For the adrenaline junkies, book a guided trip on one of our area Class 5 rapids on the Penobscot or Kennebec Rivers. River kayaking also available. Larger groups can reserve their own exclusive boat.
GOLF
- For the casual golfer nearby Squaw Village has 9-hole course open to the public. For golfers of every level, Mount Kineo Golf Course is a destination. Located on Kineo Island and accessible by a pontoon boat shuttle, the spectacular course offers shots over water and up to the face of the 800ft glacier-carved cliff.
RELAX
- For those days the weather doesn’t cooperate (in Maine? Never!), or if you just feel like laying low, Camp Coveside is ready for you. The main living room features a custom-built 8ft slate pool table and wet bar. Watch the game or a movie from a soft leather couch in the den on the 60” ceiling mounted TV with high-speed streaming service. The Game Room has an Xbox for the kids (and overgrown kids) who need their video game fix. Play corn hole in the back yard while grilling on the deck. Stargazing at night is spectacular! The region is an official “International Dark Sky Park”. Shooting stars are regular events. If you’re lucky you may even see The Northern Lights!
