Welcome to Authentic Rubicon Cabin, our home is one of the most stunning beach front properties in Lake Tahoe, and we would love to welcome you to stay.
Our home is one of only a handful of rentals on the lake with:
- An “old school” lakeside retreat vibe;
- Unique and coveted PRIVATE ACCESS to a white sand beach with a dock and 3 buoys to moor boats;
- Expansive grass lawn right off the lake;
- A remote and serene wilderness cabin feel; and
- Open-concept living at its best with INCREDIBLE VIEWS.
Our family home represents the way Lake Tahoe was circa 1950 and we are one of the last retro lakeside cabins left. We are one of ~300 homes on Lake Tahoe with a private beach so you definitely don’t want to miss your chance of staying here!
The simple, old school charm and endless opportunities for fun in the outdoors makes this the perfect getaway on one of California’s most beautiful lakes. You will enjoy a remote and serene retreat away from the busy Lake Tahoe summer days - the only sign of the summer high-season will be the idle passing of boats off the end of the pier.

- Kids Room (2nd floor): 4 Twin Beds + Ensuite Bathroom
OUTSIDE THE HOME:
- Long, single lane driveway with plenty of parking
- Gas BBQ available in the summer months
- Large deck with outdoor furniture for enjoyment of those lake views
- Large grass yard right up to the beach
- Private beach and dock access from the cabin’s backyard
- Boat access from South Lake Tahoe and Tahoe City for the experienced captain
HOME TRUTHS:
- The home does not have air conditioning.
- Use of the dock and 3 buoys are at your own risk. The homeowners and Tahoe Cohost Collective assume no responsibility. Please note, the boat lift and the owners boat are not available to guests. Failure to comply will result in an immediate cancellation of your reservation and a fine.
- This rental does require purchasing short term vacation rental insurance for stays up to 29 nights. Any deductible or minimum claim amount will be the responsibility of the Guest, and Tahoe Cohost Collective will process using the form of payment on file for Guest. The Safely Insurance fee is added into your reservation at the time of booking.
OTHER THINGS TO NOTE:
To be compliant with El Dorado County's short term rental rules, we will need you (as the primary renter) to provide us with the names, ages and phone numbers of all guests in your party over 18 years of age. You are also required to sign the rental agreement attached to your VRBO booking.
Due to unforeseen and uncontrollable circumstances, including poor air quality and smoke associated with wildfires, we highly recommend purchasing Travel Insurance to cover your cancellation, as we will not be able to offer a full refund outside the cancellation window.
Please note that living in the mountains and staying in a private home means that there are some things we cannot always control. For example, weather and harsh conditions have knocked out Wifi and the power before. While these instances are far and few between, we please ask that you are patient as these are things that we unfortunately cannot control. While we will try and accommodate all requests, we handle refunds for situations like this (power outages, appliances breaking, etc.) on a case by case basis.
Please note that this rental does require purchasing short term vacation rental insurance for stays up to 29 nights (reservations longer than 29 nights will need to discuss insurance options with Tahoe Cohost Collective prior to booking). Trust and Safety Fee includes up to $10,000 of accidental coverage for contents damage and up to $100,000 coverage for accidental property damage and bodily injury, if the fee has been paid. The Trust and Safety Fee is refundable only if the reservation is canceled in writing at least twenty-four (24) hours prior to the arrival date.
