Positive: The location is amazing. Beppu is built into a hill an Kannawaen is near the top right next to one of the most popular attractions. The view is incredible from the Sora building and even without the view the rooms are all beautiful, comfortable and the staff really go out of their way to accommodate you in everyway. The meals, both dinner and breakfast were very thoughtful and extremely good. I highly recommend getting the meal (breakfast and dinner) with your stay and do get the Japanese breakfast, you won't regret it. They have coin laundry on site, public and private Onsen's (including in room) and little lunges to explore.

Negative: There really isn't much, the site itself can be a bit confusing to navigate at first but aside from that the Ryokan Kannawaen is amazing.
