Positive: La Varangue was incredibly tranquil right in the heart of Tana. The hotel itself has amazing decor, beautiful rooms, and the sun trap garden is an incredible place to simply rest. The restaurant offers easily the best food we had during our time in Madagascar... Plus there is an excellent doggo! But what really set the hotel apart was the service. It combines luxury service both in the restaurant and hotel, with the classic Malagasy welcome and kindness. For example, our flight was extremely early (0100 arrival at Nosy Be airport for a flight landing in Tana at 0505), and so I'd messaged to ask for an early check-in if possible. La Varangue (in particular Sandra) said they'd do all they could to facilitate. When we pulled in at 0600 (having had an extremely smooth transfer from the airport) we did not even need to step foot in reception as we were greeted by a porter with our room's key and seamlessly taken to our room for some rest. They even made the room up when we went out in the afternoon... And did this all for free! Thanks to Sandra, Stan and the whole team for a wonderful stay!
