Boasting wonderful scenic walks close by and an array of independent shops to browse at Matlock (1 mile) and neighbouring Matlock Bath (2 miles) as well as plenty of delightful eateries. Dramatic Lumsdale Falls, whose waters once powered cotton mills in the Derwent Valley, are within 1.5 miles, as is Sir Richard Arkwright’s imposing 18th-century spinning mill, now a fascinating textile museum. Stroll along the River Derwent in Matlock Bath and take the cable car up the steep, wooded hillside to the Heights of Abraham, with magnificent views across the valley. Take a trip through time across the open countryside on a vintage tram at Crich Tramway Village (5.5 miles) and visit the beautiful, medieval Haddon Hall and splendid Chatsworth House, both within a 9.5-mile drive.
Enter the front door into the welcoming living room, with ceiling beams above and far-reaching countryside views from the window. Light the wood burner, set in an impressive stone chimney breast, and relax on the comfortable leather sofa and chair, flanked by cushions. Lamps and mirrors enhance the homely cottage atmosphere.
