Travel Purpose: leisure

Positive: The location is phenomenal. The apartment is literally a 1-minute walk from the centre of the Old Town and about a 1-minute walk from the best beach in the area. It is also tucked away from the main street, so it is surprisingly quiet at night and great for sleeping. The apartment itself was fairly clean.

Negative: However, there is one major issue that significantly affected our experience. The apartments are advertised as being on the “ground floor, 1st floor and 2nd floor,” but what is described as the “ground floor” is actually a basement/souterrain apartment. In practice, you are staying below street level, which is a very different proposition from what most people would understand as a ground-floor apartment. What bothered us most was the way this was presented on Booking. The photos shown were of the upper-floor apartment rather than the actual basement apartment, so we did not realise what we had booked until we arrived. We felt misled by this and, given that basement/souterrain apartments are generally priced lower for obvious reasons, we felt that we significantly overpaid for what we actually received. If you are considering booking, I would strongly recommend confirming in writing that you are getting an actual above-ground apartment and asking for photos of the exact unit before booking. The location is excellent, but the way the basement unit is marketed needs to be much more transparent.
