THINGS TO DO NEAR US -
The Loch Leven Heritage Trail is approx 10 minutes drive from here. The trail extends the whole way around the loch - a 13 mile, traffic-free shared access route you can walk, run, bike or ride along. Level and barrier-free for most of its length, the trail is suitable for walkers of all abilities, for cyclists, and for wheelchair and motorised scooter users. There are a number of viewing hides and access points along trail, with guides to five easily managedshorter walks available to download fromthe Loch Leven Heritage Trail'swebsite.
They also have a number of mini beaches on the way round. So you can stop off to relax, and enjoy the view. My favourite mini beach is shown in the images section.
TheRSPB Centreat the south side of Loch Leven has great views of the loch, viewing hides and woodland trails. There are good facilities here too including toilets, changing places toilet, a shop and cafe. If you want more information about the Reserve, staff at the visitor centre will be happy to help.
Historic Environment Scotland runs a summer boat service to Castle Island from the pier at Kinross.
Another place we recommend is the Japanese Garden near Dollar. This is about 10 minutes drive from here. It is so beautiful. And they also have a cafรฉ on site.
RESTURANTS -
There is a few restaurants near us.
You may have to book in advance, as they get very busy at the weekends.
Recommendations are - The Kirkland Hotel, The Muirs and The Courthouse. These are all in Kinross.
The other restaurant we love is in Dollar. It has undergone extensive refurbishment recently. And is beautiful inside. Dollar Inn
As we live in the countryside, you will need a mode of transport to get to the shops etc. It is a 10 minute drive to the larger shops, pubs and restaurants.
