The apartment is also about a 5-minute drive from Cernobbio, a quaint lakeside town located 7 km from Como and near the Swiss border. From the Cernobbio pier, you can also reach other lakeside locations. Cernobbio is home to some of Lake Como's most famous villas, such as Villa d'Este, Villa Erba, and Villa Bernasconi. There are some bars and restaurants as well as a supermarket near the apartment.
GETTING AROUND
The convenient private parking makes "Villa Sforni Suite" an appealing accommodation for those traveling by car. It's also a very convenient option for those arriving by ferry from Como or other lakeside locations, as it is just a matter of crossing the road from the pier to access the property. Reaching the apartment by bus is equally easy. There is a bus stop for ASF bus lines not far from the apartment, and several routes that reach Como and other lakeside locations. Tickets can be obtained from the driver (cash only) or in designated places in Como and Cernobbio. Please note that the buses don't run very often and services stop at around 10 pm! Taxi rides are available, but not easily attainable in the region.
From Como, it is easy to travel to Milan and Switzerland (Lugano, Bellinzona, Locarno) by train. There are also public ferries traveling to other lakeside towns from the pier in Como center.
The nearest airports are Milano Malpensa, Milano Linate, and Orio Al Serio in Bergamo. It is possible to arrange a direct shuttle to and from the airport at an additional cost.

>If you feel like walking, Como city center is actually a walking distance away. The walk takes less than an hour. Take the big road till Villa Olmo, and then there is a lakeside pedestrian path.
>To travel and walk around Lake Como, especially in the little towns, comfortable shoes are a must.
>There are many public drinking-water fountains in the little towns, and the water is safe to drink unless stated otherwise. Tap water is also drinkable. You can carry your own refillable bottle!
>From Cernobbio, there are many nearby hiking options in the woods (even to Monte Bisbino!).
>If you are looking for an easy hike in the area and want to enjoy mountain views anyway, Lake Como Greenway is an easy-to-follow trail that doesn't require too much walking uphill. The Greenway goes through the little towns from Colonno to Griante. From Cernobbio, you can get to the starting point in Colonno by bus.
>In Italy, many shops (especially the little ones) and services are closed in the middle of the day, so be careful to plan your shopping accordingly.
>Lake Como is one of the deepest lakes in Europe and the deepest in Italy. Swimming and diving are prohibited in many areas and can be dangerous. For those who wish to dwell in the water, however, there are some options. In Cernobbio, the lakeside Lido has a swimming pool. In nearby Moltrasio, there is a little beach. In Como city, there is an outdoor pool near Villa Olmo, but swimming in the lake is mostly prohibited. Locals and visitors also enjoy traveling to Nesso where the bravest swimmers can jump into the lake from the ancient Roman bridge near the waterfall.

The surrounding pre-Alps might not seem very high, but the climate is nevertheless affected by the nearby mountains, and temperatures can change quickly.
