Positive: The property is divided into two sections, not mentioned in the description. Villa Sensacion is located in the upper part of the location, the Jungle part, so no view of the lagoon and a steep walk up/down to reach the lagoon. It did have a pool on the jungle section. The restaurant on the property was a tad expensive, but excellent food. Breakfast was simple but good, and the staff was friendly.
Negative: We booked a room that had 1 double bed, 1 single bed and a sofa bed, perfect for a family of 4.When we arrived by the sofa bed was not made. We asked the to make the bed and the reception guy kept on calling me Mamita and mansplaining that in Bacalar sofa beds are not meant to be made into beds. Upon insisting, they threw a cover on the sofa( no bedsheets) and called it done. We had to insist the next day that they properly make the sofa bed for sleeping. I contacted the property several times before arrival, asking about arrival/parking. They contacted me 2 hours before our arrival time with a 7 pages pdf on how to get to the location, which we couldn’t open cause there was no internet on the road. Access road to the property was horrible, you need a 4x4 or really good driving skills.
